Happening

Happening. The most life-changing thing I will EVER experience. An entire weekend dedicated to God. Full of tears, laughs, and new friends. The Solomon Center in Roberts Louisiana is a huge builiding was where we spent most of our time, it is also one of the most peaceful places I have ever been. When we first arrived we were assigned small groups, I have to say I probably had the best group, anyways all of the groups went to a different location in the building. We all had to answer assigned questions but it did not feel forced. It was so cool to know other peoples storys, some worse than others, but everyone opened up and we all cried, laughed, supported each other.

This retreat is from a Friday afternoon to Sunday night. We are not allowed to bring electronics or use watches, so we were using God time, or Kyros. Throughout the retreat we sang, played so many games, ate some pretty good food, became very close with people I have never even met, and learned about our faith. If you are religious and want to be closer with God go to "Happening" it will completley change your prespective on everything.

Dialogue

"How was school today Ellie?" My mom asks as I get in the car. "Fine," I say tired as always. "Did anything happen today? Anything important?" She says as if she knows something. "Not really. Except I had a French test," I say distantly because my phone is distracting me. "Well, how did it go?" "It was alright, I studied so hard for it. I think I made an A," I say still distracted by my phone. "Good." We drive the rest of the car ride in silence because my mom has nothing to say, and I am too distracted to say anything. "Home already," I mumble to myself, not noticing how short one car ride could be. "What was that?" My mom asks. "Nothing," I say annoyed. "Ellie start your homework soon! You need to go to bed by 10:00," says my mom knowing by the time I finished homework and lollygagging on my phone, it will already be 11:00. "Mom but I am so tired, can't I ...

Political Post

In the article  Aide to NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio arrested; police cite loaded gun, 'odor of marijuana' , Cummings explains that a women working in Mayor Bill de Blasios building was arrested for having a loaded gun, and having an 'odor of marijuana' on her. The police say that it was a handgun located in her car. They found the gun because apparently there were sounds of gunfire the night before and they found the worker, Reagan Stevens, sitting in the backseat of her car. The officers could smell the marijuana, so they searched the car. Stevens will be 'suspended without pay' and they will be taking this situation very seriously. I believe that Stevens should be fired because she was a significant public figure that Blasio relied on and trusted. They hired Stevens because they believed she was loyal and hardworking person and she turned out to be doing drugs when she was not supposed to. I chose this article because I liked the topic and the headline stood ou...

Mint Snowball

Mint Snowball had to be one of the most detailed pieces of writings I have ever read. That is why I was so intruiged when I started reading. Normally I dislike reading and annotating liturature, but I loved reading Mint Snowball because everytime I reread it I felt like I was in the shop tasting the snowball for the first time, over and over again. I really loved how the author used details about the snowball that she had never even come close to tasting. As I was reading I noticed that the only thing the author had left of her great grandfather was the snowball recipie, which was sold for hundreds of dollars, intead of passing it down the generations. I also love how the narrative ends with questions that will not be answered, and leaves you thinking.
